Land Between the Lakes–Kentucky

Day 1: Today we head east getting acquainted with our traveling friends. First
night out will be at Fairview Heights, IL.

Day 2: Mid-morning we will be in Paducah, KY where our first stop will be
at the Museum of the American Quilter’s Society. The museum features more
than 100 contemporary & traditional quilts. Next we will enjoy a city tour of the
Lower Town District & the floodwall murals, which are 43 life size paintings
along the riverfront. Next will be the River Heritage Museum which tells the
story of the four rivers region encompassing the Ohio, Tennessee, Cumberland
and the Mississippi Rivers. Overnight in Paducah.

Day 3: Today we head for the Land Between the Lakes area starting at the
Kentucky Dam. This area was created by the damming of the Tennessee and
Cumberland Rivers creating a 170,000 acre national recreation area. A step on guide
will join us for the day as we stop at an Elk and Bison Prairie, enjoy a show at the
Golden Pond Planetarium and visit the Homeplace, a Living History Farm
recalling the work, play and customs of a rural family in the mid-19th century. We will
then check in to the Kentucky Dam Village Resort which will be home for 2 nights.

Day 4: Today until mid-afternoon you will be on your own to enjoy this beautiful
area as you wish. There is a beautiful golf course available or you might like to rent
a boat and enjoy the lake. Mid-afternoon we will go to Grand Rivers, KY to Patti’s
Settlement. We will have a chance to look around at the shops before we satisfy our
appetites with an included famous pork chop dinner and all the fixings including
their amazing mile high pie! We will end our evening at the Badgett Playhouse
with their Branson style state of the art entertainment. Back to the Resort.

Day 5: This morning we will leave the lakes area for Marion, KY where we will
learn about their Amish community with a local step on guide and visit the
Clement Mineral Museum. This museum hosts the largest and most spectacular
display of fluorite crystal in the world. We will enjoy an included lunch before we
turn west and head back to the St. Charles area for our last night out.

Day 6: Today we will head home with the wonderful fall colors and new
experiences that we enjoyed along the way.
