April 21 – 25, 2009
Attention all quilters…
You can be a part of the extravaganza in Paducah, KY. It is so much
more than beautiful quilts hanging on the wall! The creative ideas,
new patterns, materials, and professional instruction all become a part
of our activity for three full days in this small town setting. This is our
10th year of going to Paducah and the enthusiasm increases every year.
Same motel for 4 night’s right on the trolley route.
You may want to reserve the workshops or lectures before we go in order to get
the one you want. You will also need to order your entry ticket. This is done
directly with the American Quilt Society.
Day 1: Departing Yoder and other pick-ups along the route this morning
we settle in for our day of driving and working on current projects without
phone or doorbell interruptions. It will be a long day but by evening we’ll
arrive in Paducah. Our motel is part of the trolley route so you can come and
go as you like the next three days.
Day 2: After breakfast we will drop you off at the quilt show as well as make
drop offs at various locations. You can spend time with and learn from the
world’s most knowledgeable quilt instructors. You’ll not want to miss
Hancock’s of Paducah, with a huge selection of fabric in vast array of colors.
Back to the same motel.
Day 3: Today we head for the quilt show again. You may want to visit the
downtown area using the trolley to see the quilt displays in the shop windows,
and visit the various museums. You can stop by the National Quilt Museum
which features over 150 antique and contemporary quilts. Following an included
dinner, a local guide will join us to show us some of the city’s highlights.
Day 4: Today will be your last chance to take in any workshops or lectures.
You’ll find over 150 vendors at the Merchant Mall with an array of quilts and
quilting supplies to choose from.
Day 5: Today we will say good-bye to Paducah and the kaleidoscope of colors
that we have seen. We will arrive back home inspired by the talent in design
and color that we have witnessed together.
