CHRISTMAS IN OMAHANovember 17 – 20, 2010 4 Days $474.00 We did a similar version of this tour last year as a Mystery Tour and had a great time learning about all the traditions of the different “Countries” we visited, all in Omaha!! This year we have included different experiences PLUS the organ recital! Day 1: Today we will make our way to Omaha but first we will stop in Concordia at the National Orphan Train Complex. The museum is dedicated to those children and agents who were a part of the movement between 1854- 1929. We will then proceed on into Omaha for our first night out. Day 2:This morning we will start with a tour of the Hindu Temple. It is an amazing structure with elephants that greet you at the front entrance. We will learn about their customs associated with the Hindu religion. We will then enjoy an included Czech lunch at the historic Bohemian Café. A short welcome and history of the city’s Czech community will be presented along with a lesson in making Kolachys. Just in time for our holiday celebrations! This afternoon we are in for a real treat!! We will enjoy an up close and personal 1927 Kimball Theater Pipe Organ performance, just for our group. This gentleman built his home around this organ with amazing acoustics and a great chance to see the inner-workings of the organ. We will enjoy Big Band, Broadway Musical and some favorite Christmas songs. It is our performance to request our selections. We will then have a step on guide join us for a highlights tour of Omaha including the Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge which links Omaha to Iowa over the Missouri River. Day 3:This morning we will start at the Lithuanian Bakery for a presentation of their customs and tort samples. We will listen to the family talk about their family escaping Germany in WWII. A treat indeed! Then we are off to Boys Town as no tour to Omaha would be complete without learning about the history of how Father Flanagan touched so many lives and how it continues today. Tonight we will go to the Omaha Community Playhouse to enjoy “A Christmas Carol” production. A truly wonderful way to end our holiday tour. Day 4: Today we say goodbye to Omaha as we make our way back to Yoder ready to share our holiday traditions with our families.
