NEW ORLEANS
PRE MARDI GRAS

February 4 – 9, 2010 6 Days
$1,289.00
If you have ever wanted to experience the Mardi
Gras without all of
the crowds of the actual Mardi Gras then this is the
tour for you.
Day 1:We
will fly to New Orleans to meet up with our local guide and the
other groups from Mayflower Tours that will be joining
us. We will have an
included welcome dinner at the Court of Two Sisters.
Day 2:
We will start with a city
tour to see how it prepares for the big
celebration. We will make a stop at the Louisiana State
Museum which has an
extensive Mardi Gras exhibit. Tonight we will enjoy our
reserved seating at
the Oshun and Pygmalion Mardi Gras parades. We will
cheer on the local
clubs who sponsor the floats. We will delight in the
ornate costumes and royal
courts as the parades goes by.
Day 3:
We will take some time at
the National World War II Museum.
Dedicated in 2000 as the National D-Day museum this
remarkable museum
illuminates the American experience during the WWII era.
Celebrate the
American Spirit as you experience moving personal
stories and powerful
displays. It will then be time to head to the New
Orleans School of Cooking
located in a renovated molasses warehouse. We will learn
the basics of Louisiana
cooking from well-known local chefs seasoned with trivia
and tall tales!
Day 4:This
morning we will visit Mardi Gras World and learn the magic of
the float construction. We will then go to the Beau
Rivage Resort which will be
home for 2 nights. This waterfront resort overlooks the
Mississippi Sound. If
you choose you can opt to take in one of the shows at
the resort as the evening
will be yours to enjoy.
Day 5:
Experience a real
shrimping expedition and learn about shrimping
firsthand. Upon leaving the harbor, the shrimping net is
set and the entire
catch will be identified and presented for our
inspection. Next will be
Bellingrath Gardens and Home, one of the south’s most
beautiful gardens. We
will tour the home with its original furnishings and
decorative arts.
Day 6:
Following a buffet
breakfast we will transfer to the New Orleans
airport for our flight back home.
