Words can not describe or pictures show the beauty of the
Maritime Provinces. From the rolling hills of Prince Edward
Island or the rugged coastline of Nova Scotia you will be in awe
of
the amazing sights. You will see how diverse the Maritimes are
and
how they are shaped and surrounded by the sea.
Day 1:This
morning we are eager to see some of the most beautiful parts of
our neighboring country to the north. Our flight will
take us into Halifax,
Canada’s oldest and most culturally diverse city.
Arriving at our hotel we will
meet our local tour director and fellow travelers.
Escorted by Heritage Tours
and Mayflower tour director.
Day 2:
Today our city tour will
include the historic waterfront with its
intriguing shops and shipping warehouses. We will also
visit Citadel Hill.
Citadel is an excellent example of a 19th century fort
set high on a hill. Our
next destination is Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia,
where we will experience
magnificent scenery. The Atlantic Ocean surrounds most
of this island. After
visiting the Alexander Graham Bell Museum we will retire
for the night at a
wonderful inn overlooking the sparkling Bras d’Or Lake.
A seafood dinner
will be included this evening. Home for 2 nights.
Day 3:
The Cabot Trail lies ahead
of us today. It is truly one of the most
beautiful drives in North America through the Cape
Breton Highlands
National Park. This road winds around the northern tip
of the island and passes
through many charming communities, each with
breathtaking scenery. We will
include a picnic lunch on the trail and have a chance to
watch for whales.
Day 4:
Today we take a ferry to
the magical Island of Prince Edward. It has
beaches caressed by the sea, captivating culture and the
story of a red-haired
girl name Anne. We will step back in time at the Anne of
Green Gables house.
We will walk through the scenes that inspired her to
write her beloved story.
We will go to Charlottetown which will be home for 2
nights. Tonight we
will enjoy a performance at the Confederation Arts
Center which showcases
Canada’s finest entertainers.
Day 5:We
will start with a guided tour of the capital city, Charlottetown
and explore the marvelous beaches and woodlands. Tonight
an included tasty
Lobster dinner.
Day 6:
Leaving the island on the
nine-mile-long Confederation Bridge, we
cross the Northumberland Strait and into New Brunswick,
a province with
rich heritage and scenic wonders. The drive along the
Bay of Fundy showcases
the intriguing Hopewell Rocks. An absolute wonder, this
bay has the world’s
highest tides. One hour you stand on the ocean floor and
6 hours later it is
deep ocean waters. Curious rock formations have been
sculpted by the massive
tides. Overnight in Moncton, NB.
Day 7:
We will cross back into
Nova Scotia as no visit to Nova Scotia is
complete without stopping at the charming fishing
village of Peggy’s Cove. It
is famous for its weathered granite rocks, its beautiful
ocean waters and its
crowning feature, Peggy’s Cove Lighthouse. We will
return to Halifax for an
included farewell dinner and our last overnight.
Day 8:We
will transfer to the Halifax airport for our return flight home.
