December 7-10, 2018

Day 1: Leaving Kansas we embark on our 4 day holiday tour to Omaha. We reach the General Crook House Museum in time for an included lunch. Built in 1879, the General Crook House Museum is a restored, early Italianate style General’s quarters furnished in its original Victorian splendor, complete with holiday decorations. This afternoon we check into our hotel for our 3 night stay. Tonight we celebrate the season with a Madrigal Christmas Feaste. Announced by fanfares and accompanied by music, mirth, and traditions, this multi-course meal is designed to delight you. From the rousing Wassail Toasts to the last spoonful of bread pudding and the final fading melody of the Madrigal Syngers’ performance, you will be enchanted and filled with the spirit of Christmas. (L, D)

Day 2: This morning we sample tasty treats at the Lithuanian BakeryCafé. This bakery features breads and tortes and offers an eclectic menu based on "Old Country" recipes. Next we visit the beautifulLauritzen Gardens. Escape to a 100 acre urban oasis of beauty and tranquility and experience the glory of the garden as you discover this hidden sanctuary within the heart of Omaha. Be amazed by the spectacular floral display featuring a 20-foot-tall poinsettia tree, model trains, and other nostalgic decorations. After lunch, we will sit back, relax, and enjoy the Omaha Symphony Christmas show at the Holland Center. Celebrate the magic and joy of the season as Broadway stars add to the lush sounds of the symphony. Dinner is included tonight at a local favorite restaurant. (B, D)

Day 3:  Today we start with a city tour of Omaha. A step-on guide gives us insight and history about this thriving metropolis located on the Missouri River. Lunch is included at the Joslyn Art Museum. The museum is a pink marble masterpiece filled with more than 11,000 works of art. Next we take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Omaha Community Playhouse. Then enjoy the classic Christmas Carol by Dickens at the playhouse. Experience Omaha’s favorite holiday tradition as Ebenezer Scrooge takes us on a life-changing journey filled with lovely costumes, exquisite music, beautifully crafted sets and special effects second to none. A special Christmas dinner is included tonight at the St John’s Greek Orthodox Church. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Today we experience an Irish Christmas at Father Flanagan’s Boys Town. While ministering to the homeless on the streets of Omaha, Father Edward Joseph Flanagan developed a lifelong interest in young people. When Father Flanagan purchased the Overlook Farm in 1921, it became the new, permanent site of Boys Town. Over the decades that followed, schools, churches and homes were built, and tens of thousands of young lives have been transformed. During our visit, we get an unforgettable glimpse into the history of an organization that has given new hope to so many at-risk children over the past 100 years. Lunch is included at the Boys Town Café. After lunch we head back home to experience our own Kansas Christmas. (B, L)
