Day 1: Departing Yoder this morning, we head east and arrive in Alton IL for the evening. During dinner at the hotel, enjoy Golden Age Trivia answering questions about the golden age of TV, movies, songs, and more. We stay at the same hotel for all 3 nights in Alton, IL. (D)

Day 2: Today we walk in the footsteps of Lewis & Clark by visiting National Trail Site #1 on the Lewis & Clark trail. Next, we rise 180 feet above the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers in the Lewis & Clark Confluence Tower. Enjoy the panoramic view from one of the 3 viewing platforms. After an included lunch, we take a scenic drive along the Great River Road. Experience the rolling waters of the mighty Mississippi River and the limestone bluffs. This afternoon we board the Hakuna Matata riverboat. Enjoy a relaxing, fun-filled cruise listening to tales of the river and their communities. Later we soar over the bluffs on the Grafton SkyTour aerial lift. Ride the enclosed gondola cars to the top for breathtaking views overlooking the confluence of the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers. Explore the resort gift shop and experience group wine tasting at the Aerie’s Winery before our descent.  Tonight we dine at the massive Pere Marquette State Park Lodge overlooking the Illinois River. (B, L, D)

Day 3: This morning we start our day the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site, a UNESCO site and historical landmark. Visit the center and view a video of what life may have been like 1,000 years ago on the Mississippi River plains. View the Monks Mound, the largest man-made mound north of Mexico or climb the steps to experience the views from the top. Lunch is at the Old Herald Brewery & Distillery. We also get a sensory-based tour plus sample tasting at the distillery. This afternoon starts with a Living History Tour. Costumed docents tell stories about the Lincoln-Douglas debates, the infamous Alton Prison, and the legacy of the Civil War in Alton. Later we visit the National Great Rivers Museum, dedicated to telling the story of life on the Mississippi. Next we take a guided tour of the Melvin Price Locks & Dam, one of the largest lock structures on the river. This evening, social time and dinner will be at The Outlet. Maybe take in a game of shuffleboard or one of the vintage arcade games in this private indoor/outdoor venue. (B, L, D)
