Enjoy the bountiful buffet, live entertainment, and beautiful scenery as we float down the river on the iconic paddle wheeler. We overnight in Hannibal. (D)

Day 2:  This morning we step back in time to relive the adventures of Mark Twain in Hannibal on an old fashion narrated Trolley Tour. We drive by the impressive Rockcliffe Mansion and Mark Twain’s Cave which is mentioned in 5 of his books, including Tom Sawyer. Next we visit Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum for a guided tour to see how Twain turned his childhood friends into characters in his novels. This afternoon experience the wit and wisdom of Mark Twain in a live Mark Twain performance. This afternoon we head for the Illinois River and the city of Peoria, IL for our overnight. (B, L)

Day 3:  This morning we board the beautiful Spirit of Peoria for our 3-day cruise down the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers! Sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenic beauty of the river aboard this authentic sternwheeler. Our overnight stay is at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel in Springfield. (B, L, D)

Day 4:  This morning we tour the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum before returning to the boat. Experience the slower pace of life as we cruise down to Grafton, where the Illinois River joins the Mississippi. Along the way, enjoy live entertainment, such as singing, guitar, banjo, ragtime piano, storytelling, calliope playing, or historical narrative. Or sit out on the decks and enjoy the river and watch for wildlife. Our overnight is at the historic Pere Marquette Lodge.  (B, L, D)

Day 5:  Today we travel down the Mississippi River from Grafton to St Louis. This takes us through the Melvin Price Locks and Dam. Next witness the merging of the Missouri River and the Mighty Mississippi. We enter the Chain of Rocks Locks and Dam before stopping at Laclede's Landing, just below the Gateway Arch. After disembarking and bidding farewell to our riverboat, we visit the Gateway Arch. Ride the unique tram up 630 feet to the top of the tallest man-made monument in the United States and take in the panoramic views. Our overnight is west of St. Louis.  (B, L)

Day 6:  What fun we experienced on the Mighty Mississippi and Illinois Rivers, but today we say good-bye. We take with us fond memories of days gone by and look forward to making new memories of our own as we head on home. (B)

"Up a Lazy River,” this song captures the mellow experience of riding a riverboat, which is one of the most potent anti-stress remedies around. The ride is smooth, the shores are always in sight, and the experience is relaxing. Wooded islands dot the river, children wave from the banks of towns, and fishermen and sun-lovers drift by in small boats. Our elegant riverboat meanders down the waters of both the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers.
