SANDHILL CRANE MIGRATION

Grand Island NE

March 19-20, 2019

Day 1: Today we head north to Grand Island, Nebraska. After an included lunch at the Chocolate Bar, we arrive at the Sandhill Cranes Visitor Center to pick up a local step-on guide. Experience the sights and sounds of over a half-million Sandhill Cranes gathering on the Platte River. We are able to get off the bus and view these large, majestic birds. This evening enjoy an included dinner with entertainment. (L, D)

Day 2: This morning we get up early to see the cranes again at sunrise! We get another view of the cranes in their natural habit while they return to their Platte River roost. Next we visit the Case New Holland plant for a guided tour. This facility has over 897,000 square feet with over 2 miles of overhead conveyors, state-of-the-art equipment including lasers and robotic welding. We tour all stages of the manufacturing and assembly process. After an included lunch we drive back to Yoder. As we make our way back, we leave with memories of the natural spectacle of the majestic Sandhill Cranes. (B, L)

Each spring, the sandhill cranes return to the Platte River. These large birds have made their migration to Nebraska and the Platte River for thousands of years. It’s a natural wonder experienced nowhere else on earth. We have two opportunities to witness the immense annual migration with a local guide.
