Are we tired of the cold winter weather? Let’s head south for some warmer, sunny weather and Arizona offers us just that! Read through this itinerary and hopefully you will be ready to join us.

Day 1: This morning sit back and relax as we make our way through Western Kansas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Albuquerque is home for the night.

Day 2: This morning we depart Albuquerque and make our way to Sedona, known as the jewel of the desert and considered as one of the most beautiful places in America. This afternoon we stop at Oak Creek Canyon overlook for photos of the red rocks and surroundings of the Canyon. Then we drive the breathtaking scenic Oak Creek Canyon that descends 2000 feet to the valley floor. We check into our hotel for the next 4 nights. (B, L)

Day 3: This morning we board a trolley for a great introduction to the beauty, culture, and sights of this breathtaking and magical town. We head out to the surrounding desert to visit the Chapel of the Holy Cross and enjoy panoramic views of the Sedona red rock formations including Bell Rock, Courthouse Butte and Cathedral rock. This afternoon we visit Slide Rock State Park for a guided tour. This evening enjoy dinner in Sedona where you can browse authentic Indian arts and crafts stores along with unique boutiques and galleries. (B)

Day 4: A step on guide will join us for a day of adventure and history in the Verde Valley around Sedona. Montezuma Castle is a prehistoric cliff dwelling and our first stop of the day.
Montezuma Castle, which is dedicated to preserving Native American culture, is nestled into a towering limestone cliff. Settled in a beautiful setting we visit Alcantara Vineyard for a tour and lunch. Then this afternoon takes us to Jerome State Historic Park where a ranger will share stories of the place. Then a quick stop at Arizona Copper Art Museum. This evening we are entertained at the Blazin’ M Ranch. We also enjoy a Western-style meal reminiscent of one served around a campfire over a century ago. (B, L, D)

Day 5: Today we ride on the historic Grand Canyon Railway! We depart from the historic Williams Depot traveling 65 miles of classic Old West territory arriving at the Grand Canyon Depot, the last operating log depot in the United States. There is time to explore the Grand Canyon before our return trip through the high desert plains with endless vistas, small arroyos and portions of the world’s largest ponderosa pine forest. (B, L)

Day 6: Leaving Sedona we venture to Gallup NM. Here we tour the Navajo Code Talkers Museum which honors the contributions of Navajo soldiers during World War II and features exhibits dedicated to their unique communication methods. Continuing east, we overnight in Santa Rosa NM. (B, L)

Day 7: With memories of the red rocks today we venture to familiar settings of the Kansas plains. (B)
