Welcome to a land where misty coastlines kiss ancient forests, and vibrant cities pulse with creativity and culture. The Pacific Northwest—spanning Oregon, Washington, and parts of British Columbia—is more than a destination. It’s a feeling.
Day 1: Our first day will be driving North and West as we enjoy getting acquainted with our traveling friends. We overnight in Cheyenne WY.
Day 2: Today we cross the southern part of Wyoming, making our way to Idaho for the night. (B)
Day 3: We continue our way across the states to Oregon. Discover a place where culture, community, and creativity come alive at the Four Rivers Cultural Center. After lunch, we continue to Bend OR for the night. (B, L)
Day 4: First stop today is at Crater Lake which is known as the deep water in a sleeping volcano. This phenomenon came about when a violent eruption triggered the collapse of a tall peak. The setting will be like no other with its blue water and precipitous walls within the Cascade Range. After this awe-inspiring attraction, we will journey on to Newport OR where we will stay for two nights at an oceanfront hotel. (B, L)
Day 5: Discover the breathtaking beauty of the Oregon dunes with a scenic dune buggy ride. We enjoy fresh ocean air, rolling sand landscapes, and fascinating local history from our local dune buggy driver. Following lunch, discover whales, sea lions, playful harbor seals, and breathtaking coastal views aboard Marine Discovery Tours. Our expert naturalists bring the ocean to life as we cruise the Yaquina Bay and venture into the Pacific. (B)
Day 6: End of the Oregon Trail located in Oregon City will be an educational experience. Here we will be guided through the exhibits with a historically clothed interpreter. Learn about the true stories of pioneers making their way to Oregon. Next stop is the International Rose Test Garden. We will be able to smell some of the 10,000 roses representing 650 species as we stroll through the active test garden. Tonight, we board the Portland Spirit for a dinner cruise. We will glide along the sparkling Willamette River as we enjoy a chef‑prepared three‑course dinner, live entertainment, and panoramic views of Portland’s skyline. (B, D)
Day 7: The full-day Columbia River Gorge tour is our adventure for the day. We depart with a professional step-on guide who showcases the region’s most iconic waterfalls, scenic viewpoints, and historic routes. Traveling east through the Gorge, we enjoy guided visits to Latourell Falls and Multnomah Falls, including time at Benson Bridge and select viewpoints along the Historic Columbia River Highway. A midday lunch stop is in the charming river town of Hood River before continuing to the sweeping Rowena Crest overlook for panoramic views of the Columbia River. We have a late night arrival at our Seattle hotel for the next two nights. (B)
Day 8: Let’s set sail with a Lock Tour Cruise. We witness the world‑famous Ballard Locks in action as our vessel rises and falls with the tides, taking us from salt water to fresh water. This is the perfect way to discover Seattle from a whole new perspective. Our next stop is at the Pike Place Market, which is the oldest continually operating farmers market in the U.S. Enjoy lunch and time to explore this famous market. The Space Needle, overlooking Seattle has been Seattle’s most visible landmark since it was built for the 1962 World’s Fair. We ride to the top for a wonderful view of the city. (B)
Day 9: Today have your passports ready for our crossing of the border into Canada. We make our way to Vancouver. A local guide joins us for a city tour as we wind through vibrant neighborhoods and learn more about the largest city in British Columbia. We check into our hotel for a 2 night stay. (B)
Day 10: This morning we board the ferry for our ride to British Columbia’s Victorian Capital. We’ll see why they call this “A little bit of England” in the New World. We tour the Parliament Building and discover the architectural splendor of the Parliament Buildings while learning about British Columbia’s Legislative Assembly. This afternoon you will be enchanted by the world famous Butchart Gardens. This 50-acre showplace still maintains the gracious traditions of the past, in one of the loveliest corners of the world. The ferry will again bring us back to Vancouver and on to our hotel. (B)
Day 11: We visit the Vancouver Public Aquarium where you can enjoy sea lions, otters, whales, octopus, and all kinds of smaller marine species. Its award-winning galleries show the real-life adventure in the world below. By afternoon we say good-by to Canada, and again we need to have our passport available for crossing the border. (B)
Day 12: The spectacular scenery at Mt. Rainer National Park is how we will start our day. Along the way, we will take time for picture stops. We will also take time to explore the park while at Jackson Visitor Center. Weather permitting, we view the majestic 14,410-foot peak that the locals affectionately call “The Mountain.” (B)
Day 13: As we follow the Oregon Trail we will encounter an interesting stop at the National Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. This stop makes us feel as if we are back on the trail so many years ago in this desolate country with the early pioneers. Then we continue east towards Utah. (B, L)
Day 14: As we make our way across Wyoming and into Colorado, this feels like a transition from frontier solitude into a densely packed, scenic landscape of pine forests and alpine peaks. This change will remind us of the great time we had. Our overnight is outside the Denver area. (B)
Day 15: Today we share wonderful memories of the magnificent Pacific Northwest as we make our way home. (B)
